Gacu Brawl – Prototype Download

Gacu Brawl is a fast-paced, multiplayer-focused title developed in 10 days for Gacucon. This one features a sort of Super Smash Bros-like 4-player battle system that’s strictly PVP. There are no AI to fight, so the only way to play is local multiplayer. The game also requires a controller so grab two of them before we continue! There are two levels available for matches, one is a flat deck of a cruise ship, and the other is a multi-tier ruins with several platforms to build some height in the level. Gacu Brawl features some adorable little mini Kaiju characters, red, yellow, blue and purple. Each are accompanied by a wonderful set of animations (which is very tedious so it’s impressive that this was done in 10 days).

The game is strictly limited to local multiplayer combat on two levels,  and each character color is tied to a specific controller slot. This shoulder-to-shoulder Kaiju fest features a few sets of special techniques besides basic combo attacks. There are fireball attacks for ranged strikes, and even stun attacks for setting up that finishing blow. There is no sign of the game being expanded upon, so we may not see more levels and techniques added. The team is very active with their projects and attending development conventions, so don’t hold your breath on a Gacu Brawl update. There are a few bugs in the game, but nothing that kills the experience. One such bug causes stuns that permanently immobilize a player, sounds great (unless it happens to you)!

Download the prototype build on the game’s website.

Played it? We’d love to know what you thought about it.
