Embers of Mirrim – Beta Sign-Up

It is inevitable that  you would have heard the phrase ‘two heads are better than one’ whether it be from any form of media or just someone giving sage advise to another. The adventure-platformer Embers of Mirrim, takes this concept and turns it into a gameplay and uses the concept literally. You are a mythical creature named Mirrim, who has the ability to split into two different embers. One is made of light and the other is made of darkness. These two forces have been brought together in response to an alien threat, that is corrupting and slowly killing their planet.  The gameplay consists mostly of platforming with some puzzles and when you get to the end of a level, you are met with an epic boss battle. The environments in the game vary as you are travelling throughout the planet, trying to rid the corruption. You will go from an ancient forest to wastelands and many other locations with the worlds unique style.

As you go from level to level, you are given many abilities to help you face the threats that will stand in your way. A glide ability will help you clear gaps and get from place to place or allows you to distance yourself from a dangerous enemy. You also get a ground slam to destroy the floor below or to quickly drop out of the way of an attack. Your abilities have many uses other than just the intended use to make your way through the level and shows that the moves you receive are planned, not to act just as a key, but to add to the gameplay and to the experience. The music that plays all throughout the game matches the tone perfectly to the situation. At the start of each world, you are greeted with a unique piece and makes you want to explore every corner of the world. During boss fights, the adventurous music you heard before switched to something much more intense and epic and makes you feel like you are actually staring some of the enemies down. The game is currently in closed beta, but with all it has currently, it makes the final release in Spring of 2017 one to look out for.
