We have all fantasied about having our own robot butler. Something to do the chores around the house or go to work in our place. Well, you get just that in A.L.F.R.E.D, a 3D platformer developed by the students at ISART Digital.
You play as a young, read-haired girl who is simply trying to make her way out of a hostile world. There are so many dangers out there. Maniacs, meteor showers, bombers. But, luckily, you have your robot companion A.L.F.R.E.D. there with you. A robot specifically designed to keep you safe from all of these dangers. There is only one problem. The people who designed the A.L.F.R.E.D. unit programmed it so that it has to save all human life. That includes the people who are trying to cause you harm. You have to manipulate your robot and the environment to be able to keep A.L.F.R.E.D. occupied long enough for you to be able to clear the obstacle in your path. Whether it be someone wanting to kill you or a wooden wall.
A.L.F.R.E.D. is very useful in application. He can be used as a lift to get up to higher floors. He will cover you while you run through the perilous meteor showers, he will take bombs and put them inside him where they will cause no harm. He will even stand under a moving wall to keep it from crushing you. Just remember that he will do this for your enemies as well and his programmers also programmed him to feel sadness should a human die.
